When properly maintained, the Citation patio door will give you years of enjoyment and smooth operation and performance. The following information will assist you as an owner in maintaining your purchase for many years to come. Please make every effort to follow these simple care and operating instructions.

When opening and closing your patio door, please DO NOT slam the door. By continually slamming the sliding panel, you can cause misalignment to the door structure as well as the handle set. By not slamming the sliding panel, you will also minimize any cause for injury.

The Citation patio door locking system has an anti-lift tab, which should fit into the upper locking hole fabricated in the lock jamb. Make sure that your handle set is adjusted properly for a smooth closure. If it is not, simply close the sliding panel and slightly loosen the two screws that hold the handle set together. Align the anti-lift tab into the top fabricated hole and actuate the lever to lock the panel and lock and unlock several times to make sure that you have a smooth operation. When you have a satisfactory operation, simply hold the handle set firmly and tighten the two screws.

The Citation handle set is also equipped with a NITE LATCH TAB. This latch tab is designed to resist unauthorized entry from the exterior, as well as utilized to help assist in keeping small children from exiting the unit. The red "CD" target area in the black background indicates that the nite latch is engaged. DO NOT attempt to unlock the panel without disengaging the nite latch before unlocking the panel. Failure to do so will result in damage to the nite latch (See the nite latch instructions supplied with the handle set).

To make sure that your door maintains its smooth operation, please follow these important recommendations:

  1. DO NOT use any lubricating products on the rollers that contain solvents or petroleum distillates. The rollers in your Citation patio door have greased bearings. Any use of solvents will strip the grease away from the bearing.

  2. Clean the track at the bottom of the door weekly. Simply vacuum the track of any sand, dirt and other debris. Use a mild soap solution to clean the door and the track and dry. DO NOT use harsh abrasives, detergents, paint removers or solvents for cleaning ANY part of your door. The use of the abrasives and detergents could damage your door finish.

  3. The interior and exterior glass surface should be cleaned with a mild household soap solution. Use a lint free cloth, sponge or chamois to clean the glass. The use of a rubber squeegee will speed the drying process. DO NOT use a pressure washer to clean the exterior of your door.

CAUTION: When using any cleaning solution, please follow the suggested manufacturer's instructions and safety recommendations found on the product label. Citation Manufacturing will assume no responsibility for results obtained when using cleaners, solvents and other application methods.
